RING LIGHTING
What is Ring Lighting and what are Ring Lights?
Ring lighting is the most common form of lighting for microscopy. Microscopes objectives and lenses are, for the majority of applications, cylindrical and accordingly one of the most effective lighting schemes is to generate an annular light source, more commonly known as ring lighting.
TechniQuip offers a wide range of Ring Light options each tailored to meet a specific lighting objective.
Which Ring Light is Right for My Application?
Selecting the appropriate light source can be challenging. There are many different ways to categorize Ring Lights – by their size, their light pattern, the light generating technology, etc.
But, in our opinion, the far the most useful differentiator is the light pattern.
A diffuse source like our Model 10 Fluorescent Ring Light will create a vastly different image than a directed source like our Fiber Optic Ring Lights. Our LED Ring Lights span both camps as they can be configured to offer diffuse, directed, and even darkfield lighting patterns. If you are unsure about which pattern will work best for your imaging application contact us and we’ll lend a hand!.

LED Ring Lights
In the last decade, LED Ring Lights have gained enormous popularity and are the predominant lighting method in use today by microscopists. They are low cost, energy efficient, long-lasting, and simple and safe to use.
Fluorescent Right Lights
In many applications, the best image is created by showering the subject with light from a multitude of angles. Fluorescent Ring Lights do this extremely well. They have medium lifespans of several thousand hours and a low up-front cost.
Fiber Optic Ring Lights
Versatility and modularity are the watchwords of Fiber Optic Ring Lights.
The fiber optic illuminator (LED or Halogen) can accept a range of fiber optic assemblies, so microscopists wanting more than one lighting solution can buy a single illuminator but outfit it with several different fiber optic options for different uses.
